A cleaning lady at the Baan Phitsanulok, the official home prime minister of Thailand, was apparently possessed by a spirit in an incident that confirms the belief for some that the residence is haunted. A team of cleaners worked together in the main hall of the first floor when one young female, named Ple, started behaving very strangely, according to a source close to the prime minister. The woman, while hunching over to clean the floor, began to murmur that the building was absolutely filthy since no one had cleaned it in ages.
The other workers were startled, since the voice coming from Ple was not her usual one. She did not respond when her coworkers called out her name. The cleaners, who are employed by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, notified the prime minister's wife, Khunying Pochamarn, about the incident. Pochamarn patted Ple on the shoulder twice but without any response. She then made calls to the cell phone Ple was carrying, but Ple did not answer.
The premier's wife then had someone fetch holy water for Ple to drink. After she consumed the holy water, Ple demanded, "What did you give me to drink?" Her voice was that of an old woman. She then she threw the container away. After she was herself again, Ple said she knew what she was saying but was unable to control her actions. She apologized to Pochamarn for her disrespectful behavior.
Other strange events have happened at the building, which was built over 50 years ago. During the time when Chat Thai Party leader Banharn Silapaarcha was prime minister, the building was a meeting place for party MPs. During one meeting, MP Puanglek Boonchiang stood and pointed her finger to the group while asking, "What are you doing here?" Later she said she had no memory of the events.
Former premier Chuan Leekpai lived in the building as well. The sounds of a horse galloping was reportedly heard from the lawn at night. A bronze statue of a horse stands on the lawn.
