J-Horror is the new horror genre that has emerged from Asia since 1999. With the release of "Ringu" in Japan, a new wave of horror movies has given the industry a much needed shot in the arm.
J-Horror movies can best be described as:
Was produced in Asia after 1999
Does not rely on gore to scare
Incorporates Asian beliefs in ghosts and spirits
Does not "over-explain" ghosts (and thereby making them less scary)
Uses little to no comedy relief
