Are There Ghosts? a Spirited Controversy

UTICA, N.Y. (Reuters/Zogby) - While a majority of Americans do not believe in ghosts, nearly four people in ten say they do, according to a recent Zogby America poll.
The poll of 1,021 adults nationwide revealed that 57.4% of respondents do not believe in ghosts, while 39.8% say they do. Only 2.8% say they aren't sure.

However, the existence of supernatural beings is definitely more real for several subgroups. For example, 45.5% of women believe in ghosts compared with 33.7% of men. A majority of single adults (56.6%) believes in ghosts, compared with 32.7% of married adults.
A 57.7% majority of 18-29 year olds believe in ghosts, compared with 78.9% of respondents 65 years and older who do not.
