Police in Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta were investigating ghostly sounds heard echoing in the city's municipal funeral hall, a local government spokesman said Tuesday.
Employees of the funeral parlor, where bodies lie in open caskets during wakes, had complained in recent weeks of hearing spectral cries of a shrieking woman and a sobbing child.
"Some noises have been heard," said the local authority spokesman in the coastal enclave, which is surrounded by Morocco. He confirmed police had been sent to investigate the noises but added, "Nothing has been found.
Local media reported an expert in the paranormal had requested permission to carry out tests inside the funeral hall.
